Here at SBC we want to partner with you in guiding children towards a relationship with Jesus Christ, and teaching them to live according to God's Word. We offer a variety of wonderful classes and programs for everyone, to help them learn more about becoming a disciple of Christ.

Our Nursery 9:45-11:00 Birth-age 2
Welcome to the Nursery at Second Baptist Church. Our goal is to provide a safe, Christian atmosphere for the smallest members of our church.We begin to introduce the children to Bible stories and songs.It is important to have each child feel comfortable, secure,and special as they learn to play and share with other children.We help each child have positive feelings about coming to church and to encourage the active participation of parents in worship, teaching, and other church activities.
We hope that our loving care of your children will enable you to relax and enjoy the service. Our Baby Nursery is staffed by adults in a soft-carpeted room that is stocked with changing table, crib, rockers, sanitized age appropriate toys, and state of the art remote pagers! It is available for the 10 o'clock worship hour.
Ages 3 - K Sunday School 10:00-11:00 A.M. ages 3-K
Welcome to the 3 yr. old to Kindegarten program at Second Baptist Church. We meet in room 305. Our goal is to provide a place where young children will feel welcome and cared for, learn to work, play and do things together, and learn that the Bible is important to people in the church, has many stories about God and Jesus, and teaches us how to grow in God's ways.
Each Sunday we focus on a Bible story with a variety of learning activities (stories, songs, games, art, play acting) used to reinforce the story and meanings appropriate to the age. Each Sunday we send home a Bible verse and short prayer for parents to use with children. Children can be dropped off and picked up in Room 305.
Kid's for Christ 9:00-9:45 ages birth-12
Welcome to Kid's For Christ at Second Baptist Church. We meet each Sunday morning in room 306 . Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for children while encourage parents to participate in education classes, choir and other church activities.
Each Sunday morning this fun group for kids of all ages focus' on fun projects, mission, crafts and giving back.At 9:45 children will go to the church service, babies to the nursery in room 308 and preschoolers to room 305.
Children's Sunday School 10:10-11:00 ages 5-12
Welcome to Children's Sunday School at Second Baptist Church. We gather in the Welcome Center after leaving the morning service. Our goal is to raise up children in the knowledge of God's Word, and nurture their personal, life-changing relationship with God and God's people.
Each Sunday morning we provide a wonderful time of Bible study for children in Grades K-6. This time combines understandable Bible lessons along with creative learning activities designed to reinforce and apply the lesson to children's lives. After Sunday School please pick up your child in the Kneese Chapel.
Workshop Model
An exciting and innovative approach to Christian Education
In grades K through 8, a Workshop model was implemented in 2007. Our Christian Education motto is:
"Learn it, Love it, Live it"
Students are currently grouped into these age levels -k-2/3- 4th/ 5-6th. Learn it, Love it, Live it Workshops are offered from about 10:20-11:10 a.m. on most Sundays. Children attend the morning service with their families and after the "Children's Talk they will exit with their teachers.
About Learn it, Love it, Live it:
- Learn it, Love it, Live it, utilizes student centered activity workshops instead of classrooms. In 2007, traditional Sunday School classrooms were transformed into kid friendly learning environments each dedicated to separate activities.
- One Bible topic is taught over several Sundays. Children attend a different workshop each week to experience the story from different perspectives. One rotation can last between 5 and 6 weeks.
- Workshop teachers teach the same workshop each week for the duration of the rotation, making adjustments to their lesson plans for age-appropriateness.
- Children experience each study topic in depth, through engaging, hands-on and relevant “workshop” activities.
- The Church school publishes Learn it, Love it, Live it goals in the monthly crier for each rotation to keep parents apprised of the biblical topics and activities that will be occurring.
The Workshop Rotational Model recognizes that repetition and appealing to the many ways in which children learn are the keys to retention of ideas and knowledge. For more information on the “Workshop Rotation” Model for Sunday School, go to www.rotation.org.

Middle School Class 10:10-11:00 Grades 7& 8
Welcome to the Middle School Class at Second Baptist Church we exit after the children's talk and meet in the Library. Our goal is help students take the next steps on their faith journeys. Make an informed decision about their baptism. Declare their Christian faith and become active members in our congregation.The emphasis is on the Bible and the life experiences they need to make an informed decision about their baptism. We also offer a Thursday afternoon program for middle schooler's that is called "Helping Hands" click here for more information about this program.
Teen Class 9:00-9:45 Grades 9-12
Welcome to the Teen Class at Second Baptist Church. We meet on Sunday mornings in the library. Our goal is to encourage students to trust in God, read the Bible and respond to it's message by living a spiritual life.
